Get ready to conquer Germany’s highest peak with an epic two-day hike full of adventure and breathtaking views!
Imagine standing on the highest point in Germany, with endless peaks stretching out before you. That’s the Zugspitze, and mid-June is the time to experience it. The snow has been nearly melted and the alpine meadows are bursting with wildflowers.
Here’s the thing—this hike isn’t something just anyone can do. All the spots at the iconic Knorr Hut have been booked solid for months, but I’ve got us covered. I secured these places well in advance so that you can enjoy this incredible route at the best possible time!
Start and End Date: Saturday evening, 20 Jun 2026 – Monday, 22 Jun 2026.
Meeting Time and Location: Accommodation in Garmisch-Partenkirchen – Meet your Guide (Roman) anytime after 7pm.
Finishing Time and Location: Meet at Garmisch-Partenkirchen Central Station around 4pm and from there, you can take a train, which comes hourly, to Munich Hbf (trip length around 1.5 hours). You can expect to be at Munich Hbf by around 6pm.
Note:
Hiking Difficulty: Hard – Although we take one of the easiest climbing routes to the summit, which is technically straightforward (so no special gear required), please be aware that good hiking experience and a solid fitness level are essential. Relaxed day – we all meet at the hotel in the evening, having late evening dinner, preparing ourselves for next day’s adventures.
Today post breakfast, we would start our journey to hut. The hike itself would go through the Reintal valley. During the hike we would pass the impressive Partnachklamm gorge, the secluded Reintal valley, the Reintalangerhütte and at the evening would approach Knorrhütte. It is possible to have a nice lunch there, at their restaurant, So, you do not need to carry on food with you. During the day we would gain around 1400 meters.
After the early breakfast at the hut, we would start our hike to summit. Although it is quite short, we would gain another 870 meters to reach the summit at around mid-day. After relaxing at the top and enjoying the pristine beauty of the majestic and mighty mountains, we will use the cable car to go down to the city. Here, our trip ends at around 3 PM, so you would have time to go to Munich and travel back home.
