Join us for a fascinating day trip to Strausberg, one of Brandenburg’s hidden gems located just outside Berlin, where peaceful lakeside nature meets intriguing Cold War history.
Nestled among forests and centered around the beautiful Straussee Lake, this charming town offers a refreshing escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. We’ll enjoy a scenic walk around the lake, cross the water aboard one of Europe’s most unique ferries, and uncover stories from a time when Strausberg played a crucial role in East Germany’s military command structure.
The area may appear peaceful today, but beneath its forests lies a remarkable past. During the GDR era, Strausberg served as a major military headquarters, complete with secret bunker networks and communication centers built to withstand wartime scenarios.
Along the way, we’ll enjoy tranquil woodland trails, waterfront views, local wildlife, and plenty of opportunities to relax, take photographs, and connect with fellow explorers.
Whether you’re interested in history, nature, photography, or simply looking for a unique day outside Berlin, this trip offers the perfect combination of all four.
