Highlights

  • Skogafoss:
  • Skogafoss is a 60-meter tall, 25-meter wide waterfall on the Skoga River. According to legend, a Viking hid treasure behind it. Rainbows often appear on sunny days, adding to the magic. Visitors can climb a staircase for breathtaking views from the top.
  • Strokkur Geysir:
  • Located in Haukadalur Valley, Strokkur erupts every few minutes, shooting hot water up to 40 meters high. Surrounded by bubbling mud pots, steam vents, and geothermal pools, it’s one of Iceland’s most active geysers.
  • Reynisfjara Beach:
  • A world-famous black sand beach formed by volcanic erosion. Known for its basalt columns, towering sea stacks, and powerful Atlantic waves. The contrast of black sand and white surf creates a surreal, photogenic landscape near the village of Vík.
  • Þingvellir National Park:
  • A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Þingvellir is where the world’s first parliament met in 930 AD. It sits between two tectonic plates and features dramatic gorges, including Almannagjá, and the clear waters of Silfra fissure, ideal for snorkeling or diving.
  • Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon:
  • A glacial lagoon filled with floating icebergs from the nearby Breiðamerkurjökull glacier. Visitors can watch the ice drift or take an optional boat ride among the icebergs. It’s a peaceful and breathtaking natural wonder.
  • Diamond Beach:
  • Across from Jökulsárlón Lagoon, this black sand beach is scattered with chunks of ice, sparkling like diamonds in the sunlight. The contrast of black sand and shimmering ice creates an unforgettable, otherworldly scene.
  • Dettifoss Waterfall:
  • Europe’s most powerful waterfall, Dettifoss crashes with immense force into a rugged canyon. The raw power and thundering sound of the water are awe-inspiring, making it a must-visit in northern Iceland.
  • Hverir Geothermal Area:
  • Located near Lake Mývatn, Hverir is a vivid geothermal field with boiling mud pots, steaming fumaroles, and sulfuric scents. Its Mars-like terrain offers a fascinating glimpse into Iceland’s volcanic activity.
