About this tour

A medieval hike through narrow gorges, forests, Germany’s most famous castle.

Experience nature literally first hand and let the walls come ever closer. In the legendary Drachenschlucht (Dragon Gorge) south of Eisenach, the narrowest point on the hiking trail is no wider than 70 cm. Romantics, nature lovers, and geologists alike get their money’s worth on this tour.

The hike leads through the mossy rocks of the Dragon Gorge, scaling up to the Medieval Wartburg Castle and back to the market town of Eisenach, showcasing some of the best countryside Thuringia has to offer. The hiking route is part of the Rennsteig Trail, which is listed by many as one of the best hiking trails in Germany.
