Itinerary

  • Depending how many people arrive early we can have a walking tour in Trieste. Grocery + sleeping in Trieste

After a very early check out hike in Triglav National Parc. Be prepared for a scenic drive through Soča River valley, destination → Kobarid WWI Museum (time permitting). Right after the museum visit we will head to the Triglav National park for our scenic hike ST24 AAT starting from Bovec ending in Trenta (21km). Check in a hotel/guesthouse in between closer to Lake Bled.

After breakfast we will be driving to Bled where we will do a loop trail around Bled Lake to admire it in all his beauty, after we will jump on a 'pletna' for a boat ride to Bled Island, where we will be visiting the Church of the Mother of God (optional ?) and when we will be back, the excellent Bled Cream Cake will wait for us for a well deserved coffee break. Right after the coffee break we head to the Vintgar Gorge, where we will start an easy 45 minute hike. We would be going through the alpine meadow, where we finish our hike and have a picnic lunch in nature. After lunch we would then continue for a relaxed afternoon at Terme Snovik where we would soak in the natural hot waters. After a nice shower we jump back on the car and we drive to the Capital Ljubjana where we will be spending the night.

  • After breakfast we would meet with our local guide around 11 AM for a walking tour. The tour begins in front of the Town Hall and will take us through the historical city center, whose unique architecture is the legacy of the Baroque and Art Nouveau periods and, most notably, the work of the famous 20th-century architect Jože Plečnik. Ljubljana Castle, standing on a hill above the city for about 900 years, is Ljubljana's main attraction. On this tour, you will learn about its history and enjoy the beautiful city views afforded by the castle's ramparts. We will finish the walking tour experience at the Central Market where we will find the finest local products, street food and souvenirs. We will have lunch at the market. Free afternoon (optional Friday night together, maybe at Meralkova?)

  • To make the most out of our last day in Slovenia, we would wake up early and right after breakfast we head to the first site in Slovenia and in the Classical Karst region to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List: Škocjan Caves. After the exploration we head to Prosecco and lunch there (or in a gostilna close to the caves) then we will visit Miramare Caste in Trieste (Prosecco wine tasting optional). Overnight in Trieste.

 
  • Bye bye → head back home (Sun) : depending on how many people leave late we can have a walking tour in Trieste in the morning
