The optional guided experience stays on the Norwegian side and takes participants to designated border markers with an experienced local guide.

For travellers looking for an extraordinary Arctic experience, you can add a guided hike along Norway’s heavily monitored Russian border for an additional €150.
This is not included in the standard trip price.
The guided experience takes you through birch forest and open tundra towards the official Norway–Russia border markers.

The currently advertised guided hike is approximately 3 hours, with moderate fitness required. The route can include uneven terrain, dirt paths and some elevation.
The experience may also include a viewpoint towards Storskog, the official Norway–Russia land crossing, depending on the route and conditions.
⚠️ Important
This is a strictly guided Norwegian-side experience.
Participants must remain within permitted areas and follow all instructions from the guide and Norwegian authorities. The Norwegian police specifically warn that the border area is subject to special regulations and that crossing, approaching or interfering with border markers, or photographing certain Russian military personnel/equipment, can have legal consequences.
€150 add-on includes the guided border experience and associated local excursion arrangements.
Because this excursion requires a substantial detour from the main Karigasniemi/North Cape route, availability, departure time, weather, road conditions and the final itinerary must be confirmed before the trip.

Participants can meet the guide at the airport or accommodation depending on their arrival arrangements.
If arriving earlier, please provide your arrival details through the information sheet shared before the trip so we can coordinate pickup arrangements where possible.

Rovaniemi Airport is approximately 15–20 minutes by car/taxi from the accommodation.

This is the day reserved for our optional Norway–Russia Border Add-On, subject to final logistics and operating conditions.

For participants who select the add-on, we travel towards the Kirkenes / Sør-Varanger border region for a guided experience along the Norwegian–Russian frontier.
The currently advertised hike lasts approximately 3 hours and takes participants through birch forest and open tundra towards official border markers.

The Norway–Russia border is under surveillance by both countries and has special regulations. Participants must remain with the authorised guide and strictly follow all instructions.
The exact timing and transport arrangement for this add-on will be confirmed closer to departure based on road conditions, border-area requirements and local operator availability.

After breakfast, begin the epic road trip towards North Cape.
Travel through dramatic Arctic landscapes and make scenic stops along the way where conditions allow.

Begin the journey south through the spectacular landscapes of Finnish Lapland.
The landscape gradually changes from remote Arctic fells and open tundra into vast taiga forests.
Travel through some of the quieter and more remote areas of northern Finland.
The stretch around Pokka offers an atmospheric Arctic road-trip experience surrounded by forests, fells and wilderness.
Continue towards Rovaniemi.
After reaching the region, transfer participants towards Rovaniemi Airport according to their flight schedules.
